In a review of Inverted Order, Venezuelan poet, art historian, and curator Luis Pérez Oramas wrote: “By focusing his recent work on the duck—for example, we encounter ducklings approach their phallic or anal prey with transparent curiosity and irresistible attraction—Gerardo Rosales has achieved two successful events in his work. On the one hand, he insists on a discreet expression of conceptual appropriation. Rosales references a linguistic use and a stigmatizing convention of language that is used to call out an entire social group [in Venezuela], and uses the stigmatization to generate an imaginary repertoire and personal iconography.”
